The Joy of Achieving JEE Advanced 2020: A Personal Journey

As I sat in front of my screen waiting for the JEE Advanced 2020 result, a mix of emotions washed over me. The journey had been long and challenging, but the moment of truth was finally here. My parents, however, were yet to witness the moment that would change our lives forever.

My Family's Background in Medical and Engineering

In my family, there has always been a tradition of pursuing higher education in either medical science or engineering. Each of my siblings is either currently studying medicine or has expressed a keen interest in pursuing a career in the field. When the result flashed on my screen, it was a moment of immense pride and relief.

The Excitement and Hesitation

Moments like this are not only a personal achievement but also add to the family's history. I remember rushing to the kitchen where Mom was cooking. She was happy to see me, not knowing the significance of an IIT admission. When I called Dad, his reaction was calm, but understandable. He, too, didn't know what JEE meant, nor the value of an IIT admission. However, it only added to the excitement of the moment.

While my parents were overjoyed, I couldn't help but feel a bit of ego and self-pride. But in the end, it's all about hard work, and the journey was tough, making the success even sweeter. I often reflect on the journey, and it reinforces the belief that hard work and dedication always pay off.

Preparation and the First Attempt

My journey began with a hope and a determined heart. I had a JEE Main rank of 5956, which was far from what I had hoped for. Stumped and dejected, I even considered quitting for a few days. However, my。

I had no hope for the Advanced exam, but my determination and self-confidence allowed me to give it a second try. With a JEE Main rank of 5956, the preparation was intense and demanding. I was a partial dropper, having pursued computer science from BITS Pilani, and the syllabus needed to be covered in a very short span of time. The postponement of the exams initially helped, but as they were further delayed, my third semester was just around the corner, and uncertainty loomed over me.

Despite these challenges, I started preparing again with renewed enthusiasm. Tragedy struck three days before the Main exam when I fell ill and was admitted to the hospital. The fear that I might miss the exam once again was overwhelming.

Thankfully, I recovered in time to take the exam and managed to secure an All India Rank (AIR) of 3833. Despite the setback, I was overjoyed and satisfied with my performance. My parents were equally thrilled, as they had always hoped for an IIT for me.

The Final Challenge and Result

The real challenge came with the JEE Advanced, which was just 20 days after the Main exam. My recovery was still incomplete, and I had to take extra care of my health. However, I pushed through and gave my best. The result pleased me and my family, and I am now pursuing Economics from IIT Bombay.

Reflecting on this journey, I realize that the support of my parents was invaluable. Their belief in me and their continuous encouragement only strengthened my resolve. The journey may have been tough, but the success and joy I feel are immeasurable.

As I move forward with my studies, I look back on this moment with gratitude and a renewed sense of purpose. The journey to JEE Advanced 2020 will always be a cherished memory in my life.
